8/7日、Twitter上で一瞬だけ、国連事務総長バンギムン氏が、5日に第二期政権の宣誓をおこなったアフマディネジャドに対して祝福のメッセージを送ったという話題が上がった。#UNfail というハッシュタグでいくつかのポストを確認した。

最初のポストはこれ

このリンクをたどっていくと、「WashintonTV」というサイトで、確かにタイトルには

"UN chief to congratulate Ahmadinejad on re-election" Updated: Thursday, August 06, 2009

とある。

Washington, 6 August (WashingtonTV)―United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will send a letter to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the occasion of his second term in office, the secretary’s spokesperson said on Wednesday.

国連事務総長のバンギムンは、二期目の政権を迎えたイランのマフムードアフマディネジャド大統領に対して、手紙を送ると報道官は水曜日(※8/5)に伝えた。

Michele Montas said that the UN chief sends a message to every head of state and government upon his or her inauguration.

Michele Montas氏は、国連事務総長は、すべての国の首長と政府に対して就任式にあたってのメッセージを送っていると語る。

“A customary letter on this occasion will be sent to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as well,” she told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York.

この出来事を踏まえた特別な手紙が、マフムード・アフマディネジャド大統領に対しても同じように送られるだろうと、彼女はニューヨークのUN本部で語った。

Ahmadinejad was sworn-in on Wednesday, nearly two months after his disputed re-election on 12 June, which led to widespread protests throughout the country.
アフマディネジャドは水曜日に宣誓した、それは、国全体を巻き込んだ広範囲での抗議のために(延期された)、議論になってる彼の再選があった6/12からほとんど二か月を経てのことだ。

The United States, France, Germany and Britain said that they would not send a message of congratulations to the Iranian president.

The European Commission said today that it also had no intention of doing so.
欧州会議は本日、それについて何の縛りも持たないと語った。

“The European Commission has not sent a congratulatory message and does not intend to do,” spokesperson Amadeu Altafaj Tardio told reporters in Brussels, according to AFP.
AFPによると、「欧州会議としては祝福のメッセージを送らないが、それは(欧州諸国に)そうしろと強制するものではない」と報道官のAmadeu Altafaj Tardio氏は、ブリュッセルで語った。

In his inauguration address yesterday, Ahmadinejad said that he was not awaiting messages of recognition or congratulations from the West.
昨日、就任式後の演説で、アフマディネジャドは、彼は、西欧諸国からの承認や祝福のメッセージは期待していないと語った。

“Iranians will neither value your scowling and bullying nor will they pay attention to your smiles and greetings,” he said, according to the state-run Press TV network.

かなり、適当な日本語訳で恐縮だが、内容としては、バン事務総長が手紙を出すとはあっても、その内容が、手放しでの祝福なのかどうかは書いてないのである。しかしタイトルが"UN chief to congratulate Ahmadinejad on re-election"となってるので、「お祝の手紙」なのかなぁ、と思ってしまうし、前例を踏襲するとお祝の意味合いの手紙なのだということなのだろう。

で、その記事を読んだTweeterがばばばーっと、投稿したのが以下のメッセージ群である。
投稿者のIDはカットしている。

「厚顔無恥なバンギムン!　辞任してアフマディネジャドを連れていくか?」「7週間もの間の抵抗活動を見てないのか」とか「どうしてUN前のハンガーストライキを無視することを楽しむこどかできるんだ?」「こんな奴らに署名を届けるのか?」とか・・・。「人がバンギムン事務総長の手紙が、事務的なものであるかどうかは関係なく怒りはぶつけられていた。しかし、この怒りが、#iranelectionのメインストリームで語られることはあまりなかった。

なぜか気になっていたのだが、恐らく、
(1)事務的なものであるという認識がある。日本がアフマディネジャドを承認し、麻生首相もお祝いのメッセージを送ったがそのときに日本に対する攻撃はほとんどなかったと記憶している。
(2)報道したメディアが、Washinton TVというメディアだけであり、そのメディアは、実はイラン国内のメディアだから。
という2つの理由がスグに浮かんだ。※ただWashinton TV　というメディアについての詳細は、調べきれていない。

でも、大事なのは、彼ら今回のイランの選挙に対して抗議している人々にとって、国連が、アフマディネジャドを承認するということの意味は重大なのだということ。ほとんど2ヵ月の抗議で、事実としてひとが殺され、国家が暴力をふるってきたという事実を無視されてしまった気がするのだろう。これは、記事の内容の真偽とは関係のないことであって、「国連はアフマディネジャドを認めないでほしい」という気持ちの表れなんだな、と思った。

という話が、一週間前。

それで、どうして今日になって、このことを話題にしたかというと、こんな投稿を見つけたのです。

リンク先を見ると、なんと、ロイターの記事で、

という記事が上がっていた。
えー、あれって、やっぱり本当だったの?　という感じ。

この記事には、やはり国連事務総長が就任式に特別なメッセージを送ることになっているとしながら、確かに、バンギムンへの批判意識が反映されてる。

で、この記事が上がった昨日から、#UNfailが、また、始まっているのである。
